A Glance Into The Variety Of Printer Toner Cartridges: Announcing Kyocera FS-3800D Cartridge

December 25, 2009 · Filed Under Computers

For several years over the past decade, the Kyocera FS-3800D printer was the epitome of the office printer that maximized quality while minimizing cost and environmental impact. Currently, this printer is being retired, yet despite its “end of life”, the FS-3800D printer using Kyocera FS-3800D Printer Toner is well worth the investment.

The FS-3800D is a laser black-and-white network printer. Its performance costs and environmental effect are quite low. The printer’s memory is 16 MB and its processor is a 200 MHz PowerPC 740. The toner cartridges are recyclable and the drum has a duty cycle of 300,000 prints. The resolution range is high (up to 2,400 x 600 dpi) with image enhancers that have caused owners to describe the printer as producing “rich blacks, ” very crisp edges, and halftones that are very discerningly detailed.

The FS-3800D is quick for its time: it prints 25 ppm (pages per minute). It does this by processing the entire file then storing it as an image in the RAM so that it can print the document at full speed. It is Energy Star compliant which means that when not printing the machine will shut itself down. PC (Windows 2000 or higher), Mac, UNIX, and Sun platform users can all interface with this printer. Due to its specs, this printer was the ideal choice for printing business reports, invoices, and forms, as well as producing direct mail and bar codes.

An international Japanese company, Kyocera is the producer of many products besides the FS-3800D. Its focus is modern ceramics and its uses, such as components for telecommunications and electronics, as well as semi-conductors. The company’s first incarnation was the Kyoto Ceramic Company, changing its name in 1982 to Kyocera. The branch called Kyocera Mita deals with the company’s imaging technology (i.e., printers).

Kyocera Mita’s current line of printers are an outgrowth of the FS-3800D’s technology. The FS-1100 and the FS-1300D both have a print speed of 30 pages per minute and their drum cycles are 20,000 and 25,000 per month, respectively.

The FS-1350 has a 32 ppm (page per minute) speed with a duty cycle of 30,000 while the FS-2020D has a speed of 37 ppm and a 150,000 per month duty cycle. The FS-9130DN steps up the page per minute speed to 40 with a duty cycle of 200,000. FS-3920DN and FS-4020DN have speeds of 42 and 47 ppm, respectively (the duty cycle ranges between 200,000 and 250,000) while the powerhouse is the FS-9530DN, which has a ppm of 51 and a 300,000 per month duty cycle.

The printers produced by Kyocera Mita all use Ecosys technology. Ecosys aims to impact the environment minimally be creating longer life consumables and reducing the owner’s cost-per-print. Ultimately, Ecosys technology has separated the drum from the toner cartridge. Typical printers have the two combined and when the printer runs out of Kyocera FS-3800D Cartridge, the perfectly fine drum gets replaced with the toner. The Kyocera printers do not needlessly replace this drum, thus lowering the cost of ownership.

With the Kyocera FS-3800D Toner Cartridge offering additional savings by printing so cleanly and crisply, the savings can continue.  Kyocera toner has the advantage of no blotches or splotches, no matter the length of the job.  Finding replacement toner from online sellers is easy and quick.  The savings offered and the premier performance make this an exceptionally good choice.
