About Waterside
Waterside is not a town or village but
rather an area that can be found on the western side of
Southampton Water and is bounded on the far side by the New
Forest National Park.
The Area starts in Eling and stretches
all the way down the A326 and finishes at the end of the
B3053 in Calshot
The Main towns and villages in the
waterside region are commonly agreed to include:
Blackfield, Butts Ash, Calshot,
Dibden, Dibden Purlieu, Exbury, Fawley, Hardley, Holbury,
Hythe, Langley, Lepe, Marchwood, and
Pooksgreen.
The main economy in the area is quite
diverse but it is well known for the expanding boating
community, the military port at Marchwood ( the start of
many a journey to operational engagements) and perhaps the
most widely known – The main oil refinery at Fawley.
Residents in the area are fortunate to
have the local beauty of the New Forest National Park only
a small car journey or bike ride away and the cost of
housing in the area is considered to be very reasonable
given the proximity of the New Forest where house prices
are extremely high.
The area also offers easy access to the
Solent for keen sailors with Lymington not being to far
away either.
